On The Rocks: The Polaris Xpedition Build at Barrett-Jackson

The Trip

The On The Rocks Xpedition build wasn’t just another project in the shop—it was something we wanted to take beyond the usual setting and put in front of a much larger audience.

That led us to the Barrett-Jackson Auction.

Getting the car ready, loading it up, and making the trip out there was part of the experience. It’s one thing to build something in the shop or see it out on the trail, but bringing it into an environment like Barrett-Jackson gives you a completely different perspective.

You’re surrounded by some of the highest-level builds in the automotive space, and everything is under a microscope—from fit and finish to overall execution.

At Barrett-Jackson

On The Rocks build at Barrett-Jackson

Once we got the car on the floor, it was clear right away how much the setting changes things.

Barrett-Jackson isn’t just another event—it’s a place where details matter. Everything there is presented at a high level, and that raises the standard across the board.

The On The Rocks build fit naturally into that environment. It wasn’t overbuilt or trying too hard—it just did everything right.

People noticed the overall setup, the way everything worked together, and the level of detail throughout the car.

The unit ultimately sold for $80,300, reinforcing the level of execution and demand for a complete, well-built machine.

Seeing the Build in a Different Light

Bringing the Xpedition into that setting reinforced the approach behind the build.

It wasn’t about stacking parts or chasing one standout feature. The goal was to build something complete—where every component had a purpose and everything worked together.

Seeing it alongside other high-level vehicles made it clear that the difference comes down to execution:

  • Clean installs
  • Thoughtful part selection
  • Consistency across the entire build

Key Highlights

Protection and Front-End Setup

DRT front bumper and grill with Factor 55 fairlead

The front-end setup held up well both visually and functionally. The bumper, grill protection, and recovery components all serve a purpose, but also come together in a way that looks complete and intentional.

Suspension and Clearance

SuperATV GDP 4 inch billet dual idler portals ZBroz dual rate springs

The suspension and portal setup play a major role in how the vehicle sits and performs. The added clearance and balanced stance give it the capability it needs without compromising the overall look.

Interior

PRP custom seat covers and console cover

The interior was kept clean and functional. It’s not overdone, but everything inside the cab feels finished and well thought out, which stands out even more in person.

Utility Setup

Rough Country 45L portable fridge freezer Blackstone grill setup

One of the more important aspects of this build is that it wasn’t built just for display.

The added utility—fridge, cooking setup, storage—makes it clear this is something meant to be used on longer trips, not just parked or shown.

Lighting

GG pods CB30 amber lighting

The lighting setup rounds everything out. It’s practical, clean, and integrated in a way that doesn’t take away from the rest of the build.
